Working With Good Editors

February 23, 2009

One of the great things I discovered working on THP is the joy of collaborating with people who enhance and make your film better. We were fortunate to work with some great editors. Austin Vitt, Paul Jacobs, Andrew Lee, David Moss, Gabe Tanenhaus, David Germano, and Daniel Brothers were all instrumental in making THP a better product. They worked really hard, collaborated over several iterations of edits (painstakingly so), and added their own creativity to make a better THP series. It’s rare to find such a solid team the way we did on THP for basically no pay.

This most recent episode is an example of a time that I was really shocked by how much a creative editor can enhance your original vision. The first time Austin put this together, I was blown away. The script certainly served as a guide, but a good editor can find ways of marrying visuals with sound in ways that a director/writer may not have thought about. Here’s to creativity and good collaboration.
