Week 9 In Review – The Hayley Project
December 7, 2008
This week’s update on The Hayley Project.
- Just over 2 months out now, we’re over 25,000 views in aggregate. My reaction is that we’re doing OK but that we obviously haven’t hit a tipping point yet. At this rate, I would think that we’d reach over 100,000 views by the time our series ends. However, I recognize that this is a very small number in the youtube world. Either way, it’s motivating to see fan reaction to our series and we’ll keep forging ahead in hopes of seeing an uptick in views
- This week, we will be releasing one of our bigger “twist” episodes. It’s one of my favorite episodes and I’m looking forward to seeing reaction from it. I also wonder whether this is the type of episode that could motivate our viewers to start spreading the word on our series
- Views haven’t ramped up after Thanksgiving break, even with growing subscriber base. I’m beginning to suspect that Holiday season might be a harder time to have a series out or it’s possible that taking a break may have actually hurt us, as some people may not have remembered to tune back in. I’ll have a better sense after this coming week
- Demographics continue to support who we thought our series would resonate with. Over the last 2 weeks, we’ve had a 60/40 female split, with 40% of our viewers comprising the 13-17 year old demographic segment. Remember when looking at these numbers that a 60/40 female split actually means the over-index on females is significantly higher, because the online video category skews males (e.g., the baseline is not 50/50). In other words, with all things being equal, you would expect more males to view online video than females
