Happy New Year and Biz Development
A belated Happy New Year! The end of 2007 got crazy busy. Hence, the lack of posts. Anyway, thought I’d give a quick update on where we are with the Hayley Project.
With 2008 here, I’m ready to enter the business development phase of The Hayley Project. Last night, I met with Kathleen Grace of the cult hit series The Burg. She was extremely helpful and generous with her time. She gave me a lot of great information about the distributor landscape, and some good advice on next steps. Kathleen has dealt with every distributor out there, and she’s currently working on a new Vuguru show The All-For-Nots that’s about to go into production. She is, no doubt, an expert in the online film world.
Anyway, after our meeting, I talked to Jato, and I told him that I think we’re ready to start pitching the series. We have about 4-5 showcase episodes almost ready to go (we just need music), and I’ve been working on a pitch document over Christmas break. I think it’s time to roll the dice and see what happens.
And by the way, Kathleen had an interesting slant on the production triangle and how it applies in the world of online video. All filmmakers have heard of the production triangle and how your film can only have two of the following three elements: good, cheap, or fast. Well, the twist on that is for Internet video, you have to have all three to have success. Sucks for us….
Happy New Year!
