YouTube’s Partner Program

YouTube has begun a partner program to reward certain content creators for drawing mass audiences. You can read about this trial program here. As of now, it’s invite only, which means that most of the YouTube community is excluded from this potential monetization scheme.

My guess is YouTube is still struggling with how to match up advertisements with advertising-worthy content. I’m sure Google is going to be careful about rolling out their video advertising. The last thing they want to do is scare off advertisers by accidentally serving up a Fortune 500 company’s ad to an inappropriate video clip.
