Tubemogul Study: “How Much of a Typical Video Online is Actually Watched?”

Tubemogul just released a study on “How Much of a Typical Video Online Is Actually Watched?

Key finding here is that despite all the views that a distribution site reports, chances are the vast majority of your audience only views a percent of the video. E.g., only 17% of an audience actually watches the entire video if its greater than 3 minutes. Of course, this has advertising implications and explains why content producers should not expect an advertising share payout anywhere close to what their total views may indicate.
