MySpace Storyteller Challenge

MySpace is launching “the Storyteller Challenge” that gives filmmakers a chance to get a development deal with Fox (although it sounds like it’s really for distribution via MySpace). Supposedly, they are looking for the next “Prom Queen.” You can read about it at Tech Crunch.

Rather than brokering a deal with Vuguru like they did with Prom Queen, it appears Fox would rather own the rights to their own series and cut out any third party distributor. Makes sense from a business perspective. The traffic alone on MySpace would guarantee an online hit, and quite frankly, they don’t need to share revenue with another distribution company.
